The N64 transfer pak I have is very unreliable. I want to find another one just to be sure. I've even cleaned it a bunch.

Leaf Green: Since it’s the third time through Kanto this year, there’s not a lot to recap. I did the diglett tunnel back to Pewter and got the HM for flash, yet I decided to still not use it in Gen III. Rock Tunnel isn’t too bad once you’ve ran the layout in Gen I before. I caught a Vulpix, but decided to double down on getting levels on a bird to take out Erika. I actually beelined to Celadon first, and got a wild idea. After grabbing a thunderstone at the marketGetting to Celadon means I can get Fly. Good flying move. They changed what drink to get for FRLG it seems, I got Tea from a kind grandma to give to the gate guards.

My wild idea paid off, the fighting gym is not gated by the rocket or tower events in this stretch. Smashing my team through the gym, I didn’t play smart I played tired and walked down the middle which forced two consecutive battles. Bird got levels, I replaced Mankey with Hitmonchan. I know Hitmonlee is supposed to be better, but I’ve gotten lee before and went with chan this time. Also, I remember getting hitmonchan and not using it well previously. Gen III learnset gives me a pretty mean moveset going into later badges. Thunder Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch all at level 26. Also, by going this early, at level 25 it’s at the same level as a lot of my other pokes. After getting Hitmonchan, I double checked I fought all the trainers in the routes leading to Celadon, and the trainers before Erika.

PokeBank: I subbed and tested moving a box from Y to Ultra Moon. Then I went and transferred extra pokes from a box in Yellow and in Crystal. There’s a cute little gameboy icon in the summary page for those pokemon. I didn’t look up most of them before, so it’s fun seeing what hidden abilities these pokemon get. Some are making me wonder how fun it would be to reuse these pokemon to replay 3DS games. If I went through Ultra Sun or Sun with some really nice (powerful) pokemon I wouldn’t get tired of it.

Pokemon Stadium (2): I’ve been staring at my pokemon stadium carts. They were dug up when I set back up my N64 recently. I remember being terrible at them, so I think I’ll look into them and give it a shot. Kid me could not get over how different some battle mechanics are and didn’t have the mindset to use rentals. Stadium makes ‘win with your favorites’ extra difficult. Definitely not a priority for this project, I don’t have a way to get my VC saves to interact with real hardware and there’s basically no way at this point that nintendo is going to put stadium on N64 NSO and have it interact with 3DS VC, they’re sunsetting the 3DS/WiiU eShop this year (2022, store close on Mar. 2023). Would be great if they did, but it would not go over well if it interacted with something people can’t buy.
